SCV/Blue Devils/DCI stuff

https://www. bluedevils. org/merchandise/product_info. php?cPath=70&products_id=1011

SCV and Blue Devils home show is a combined thing this year. June 21st (Saturday) in Concord. This is something I always have gone to in the past, and this year it looks to be a bit different. 10 bucks a person (its usually more like 25). Also it will not be judged, so we will see how that pans out. Nevertheless, this would be a GREAT opportunity for anyone who has been interested in seeing a show but never actually gotten around to it due to cost and such, to see one. Interested? Let me know, and I'll be down for setting up a carpool type thing to get there.

If that doesn't work, there will be a bigger (and consequently more expensive) show at Stanford on July 5th. Don't know yet if I'll be going to that though.

Before I leave for the weekend to go to a Mandarins camp, I thought, just for the hell of it, that I would state a few of my political views.....

I like Obama. Though I'm not registered to vote yet (its on my to do list for this week...), I'll probably end up registering as a democrat, simply because I tend to like their candidates more. HOWEVER, I do NOT like Clinton. Do I think a woman president would be great? Absolutely. Do I think she's the one? No. Right now it seems to me that she is just trying to cut Obama down, in her effort to win, while Obama is just going along on his own business, showing people what he can do for America. I like this...its a nice change from the typical political bullshit that we see.

I actually like McCain as well. I think that if Obama doesn't get the nomination...I might vote for him. I'll have to do some more research before I decide on that, if I even have to cross that bridge.

Wish me luck this weekend..

Eric

Busier than a dyke in a hardware store....

On the CNN website, there's a story about a man being released from prison in Houston 12 years after being put in there for a crime he didn't commit. He was convicted because of problems in the way the Houston crime lab conducted its procedures, and he is NOT the only one to have been released recently because of their innocence being confirmed.

http://www.cnn.com/2007/US/law/10/10/houston.lab.ap/index.html

If you are interested...a link to the story.

My view on when this sort of thing happens:

The prosecutor, or the head of the crime lab, or whoever was responsible for the wrongful imprisonment (depending on the specific case), should spend the same amount of time in prison as the person who spent the longest amount of time in prison because of their errors (should there be more than one, as is the case in aforementioned story). This man spent 12 YEARS of his life in jail. I was 5 YEARS OLD when he was put away, and every minute that I have lived since then, he has not. I feel that many law enforcement agencies are too nonchalant about sentencing somebody, and I would hope that if I had it my way, that they would make damn sure that they knew what they were doing before convicting and sentencing somebody to time in prison.

I learned something today.

Life is fragile, and you never know when it can be taken away, from you, someone you care about, or someone you care about cares about. There are so many ways in all of our days that we can die, it's a wonder it doesn't happen more often. At the same time, its awful that it does happen so often, and so easily.

I thought I had more but that's about it. Moral of the story: Life is short, no matter what happens. Don't waste it.
